Eugene businessman George Rode specializes in green auto repair shops, and he has just opened his third location near the University of Oregon.

…He’s now spending about $45,000 to remodel and outfit the 5,000-square-foot building to make it more eco-friendly. This includes small items — such as an eco-friendly mop — on up to much bigger items, such as the six bulk tanks with reservoirs around them that will hold a total of 1,200 gallons of oil, anti-freeze, waste oil and other liquids.

Installing the tanks means “you don’t have a bunch of plastic bottles,” he said, plus it allows him to buy in bulk, resulting in fewer truck deliveries and further reducing the business’s carbon footprint.
