Precision Castparts Corp. plans to buy airplane parts manufacturer Primus International Inc. for $900 million.

Precision, based in all but anonymous quarters on Portland’s Southwest Macadam Avenue, has factories in Oregon and abroad that make large complex castings and forged components used in jet aircraft engines and industrial gas turbines.
