Fireworks went on sale June 23 in Oregon, sparking a short selling season that benefits nonprofits and other groups.

Although opening day might have meant a blast-off for sales, [youth pastor Steve] Reed said he expects 90 percent of the stand’s $50,000 to $60,000 in receipts to be collected July 3 and 4.
