The Wilsonville City Council voted to delay a decision on a proposed urban renewal district designed to lure SoloPower to the city.

The decision on the incentives for the thin-panel solar panel company has been delayed until April 18.

Officials from Business Oregon, the state economic development department, and the Westside Economic Alliance testified in favor of the proposal.

A number of Wilsonville citizens, including former Mayor John Ludlow, testified against the ordinance, asking for the council to send the proposal to the voters. If the council would have placed it on the September ballot – the earliest they could without holding a special city election – SoloPower officials told them that the delay would mean they would find another location.
