Fort George Brewery in Astoria celebrated the end of a yearlong, million-dollar project to launch their beers statewide with a special Lager off their new canning line.

The company has gone from six to 28 employees in just four years.

Tall 16-ounce cans made their way off the brewery’s new canner and into the hands of many of the people who have participated in downtown Astoria’s most recent revival. With familiar popping sounds, the cans were opened and drained within minutes.

Now, the shining Canadian-made silver $100,000 canning line gleams in the southwest corner of the company’s newly acquired Lovell Building. Last year, [co-owners Chris Nemlowill and Jack Harris] bought the city block that their three-year-old business had been housed in for $1.65 million, with the help of small business administration loans.
