The Sustainable Valley Technology Group in Southern Oregon named the first five clients for its new business incubator in Medford.

The businesses include a yoga music download company and a local organic liquor company.

The initiative is backed by the Jackson County government, which pledged $50,000 to fund the effort. That amount has been matched by another $100,000 from individual donors.

Jeff Allen, an Ashland-based consultant who is acting as the group’s director, said the original plan was to raise $500,000 and make investments in companies. Since then, however, the Southern Oregon Angel Investment Network has come on the scene, which the Sustainable Valley group felt helped fill the need for startup capital in the region.
