Oregon technology jobs climbed 6.1 percent last month from February 2010, the biggest annual jump in six years.

This jump comes despite the state adding only 800 tech jobs since January.

Oregon technology is coming off the worst decade in its history. Total tech employment in the state dipped to 1996 levels as growth stagnated at many of the state’s biggest tech companies. No big new companies emerged to fill the void.

Now, though, venture capital is on the rise, established companies out the Sunset Highway are growing again, and Oregon tech’s anchor tenant, Intel, is producing banner results.

Manufacturing was among the strongest sectors last month, across all industries and in technology specifically.
