Oregon’s statewide technology employment hit a two-year high in January with a total of 54,600.
Jobs are up across the board, but especially in software, where employment has climbed 7 percent since November, according to state figures.
Oregon’s tech industry ended its worst decade ever with a series of layoffs that reduced the state’s tech work force to 1996 levels. By historical measures, the current job tally remains very low. But today’s numbers point firmly upward, and there is cause for optimism ahead.
