Film and TV makers are expected to spend record amounts of money in Oregon in 2011, according to Vince Porter, executive director of the Governor’s Office of Film and Television.
Gov. John Kitzhaber’s announcement that he plans to support filmmakers is partially responsible.
“I’m expecting over $90 million,” [Porter] said. That’s up by about 50 percent over preliminary estimates of $60 million spent here in 2010, Porter said.
Four projects have committed to production in Oregon in 2011, Porter said. “Grimm,” an NBC pilot, is scheduled to shoot in the Portland area in March, with a decision on the series due in May. “Gone,” a film by Lakeshore Entertainment starring Amanda Seyfried, is due to start production in April. “Leverage,” which airs on TNT, will begin production of its fourth season at the end of February. And “Portlandia,” which airs on IFC, will begin production in May for its second season.
