Ecotrust CDE has allocated over $60 million in tax credits to businesses that are creating green jobs in struggling timber communities.

The credits are going to NewWood Corp., Ochoco Lumber Co., ZeaChem Applied Technology and Garibaldi Forest Management.

More than 300 direct jobs and 500 indirect jobs will be created or saved through the investments, Ecotrust CDE said in a statement.

Last week, Congress renewed the New-Markets Tax Credit program with $3.5 billion a year for two years. The tax credits help projects with the last bit of financing necessary to opening businesses.
