The company buys the trees from property owners and prepares them for use making furniture, instrument and cabinetmaking and hobby woodworking.

Goby is being SmartWood certified, meaning it uses sustainable harvesting practices.

It is in talks with a Japanese company to use their technology for kiln-drying lumber slabs through osmosis.

Company trucks run on biodiesel.

Every part of the tree is used — the warehouse is heated with offcuts that can’t be used elsewhere, which also saves thousands of dollars a month, [owner Art] Blumenkron estimates.
