But the price is lower in Central Oregon, where discount food stores abound.
A 2010 study conducted by the American Farm Bureau Federation (AFBF) revealed that the price of a “classic Thanksgiving dinner” for 10 has risen from $42.91 last year to $43.47 — a 1.3 percent increase.
The AFBF has conducted the study each year since 1986, using the same foods and ingredients without any change in quantity to track the price of the feast each year. The study asks more than 100 volunteer shoppers from throughout the country to shop for the best deals they can find on such Thanksgiving mainstays as turkey, cranberries, and sweet potatoes. Shoppers are instructed not to include promotions that promise a free turkey with additional purchases.
