Facebook’s Prineville data center had begun looking to hire locals for the new critical facilities team to manage the facility.

McKinstry, a Pacific Northwest-based construction, energy and facilities services company, will manage critical facilities operations of the data center upon completion. Mark Guymon, McKinstry’s Business Development Manager, said that in a data center, it is very critical to get the right temperature, the right relative humidity, and consistent, steady power to all the Information technology devices like servers, storage systems, and network switches and routers. McKinstry’s onsite team will provide the facility engineering services that ensure that the data center’s electrical and mechanical systems operate reliably to provide this optimal environment.

“McKinstry has been reviewing applications submitted on their website, and will be in Prineville interviewing applicants whom they have screened. They have nine people who have already submitted applications — all 100 percent local people, and they hope to review as many applicants as they can,” said Patchett. “They have nine positions altogether to fill.” Patchett commented they are all long-term positions with a very long-standing, credible company.
