Portland-based Azuray Technologies Inc. plans to work with two Chinese solar panel companies.

Azuray will partner with Renhe Photovoltaic Technologies, a solar junction box manufacturer, and Suntech Power, a silicon solar power manufacturer.

Rooftop solar panels are typically connected in a series and when output of one panel drops because of shading or age, the output of the entire string suffers. Assigning each panel a so-called power optimizer, such as the AP300 produced by Azuray’s partnership with Renhe, lets it generate its maximum capacity. Financial terms of the deal weren’t disclosed.

Azuray is in talks with other panel manufacturers, mainly in China, on optimizer integration, Gil Miller, Azuray’s vice president of business development, said in an interview. Cixi, China-based Renhe now has 70 percent of the junction-box market among Chinese solar-panel manufacturers, Miller said.
