Jackson County raised taxi fees at the Medford Airport by 1,000%, which is expected to put many people out of business.
The county previously charged a flat fee of $30 a month that covered two cabs per company.
Now it has approved a $30 per car fee. In addition, after the first 30 fares, a $1 fee is charged every time a taxi rolls through the airport to pick someone up, though not to drop someone off.
Taxi companies could pass the fees on to customers, but are reluctant because there is stiff competition from more than a dozen cab companies.
