Commercial real estate firms are finding that posting properties on Craigslist helps to reach a broader clientele.

“We started posting our properties on Craigslist because we wanted to open ourselves up to as much of the potential clientele as possible,” [North Rim Brokers Vice President Matt] Schweitzer said. “Plus, a lot of the bigger firms don’t think to post their listings on Craigslist, so it allows us to serve an audience that other firms don’t.”

“You’re not going to have a downtown law firm needing 30,000 square feet looking for its space on Craigslist, but that’s not the only clientele looking for space in Portland,” [Bluestone and Hockley principal broker Cliff] Hockley said. “But we’ve had plenty of success filling spaces in the 200- to 1,500-square-foot range.”
