Opponents of Measures 66 and 67 feared it would drive business from Oregon, but seven months after the measures were passed, that doesn't seem to be the case.

Dave Hunt, speaker of the the Oregon House of Representatives said many companies are in fact choosing to move to Oregon rather than away.

Hunt pointed to several companies that have found Oregon attractive for their operations, including Facebook, which last week announced it will double the size of its data center under construction in Prineville. The online social network, which recently reached 500 million active users, will have 307,000 square feet of room in its data center.

Hunt said he recently spoke with officials from Genentech, a biotech company with a plant in Hillsboro. The company is headquartered in San Francisco and has two other plants in California.

‘They said they came to Oregon because of its tax structure, not despite it,” Hunt said.
