Sports Authority to close all stores in nationwide liquidation


THE OREGONIAN: The sporting goods company will close all stores in the county, including the five in Portland.

[The] sporting goods retailer [has abandoned] its bankruptcy plans and instead will liquidate, according to  reports from news media including Forbes and The Wall Street Journal.

The company, whose headquarters are in Englewood, Colorado, notified the U.S. bankruptcy court in Wilmington, Delaware, that it would not reorganize and would instead pursue a sale, Forbes reported.

The company, which operates more than 450 stories in 41 states, has stores in Northeast Portland, Clackamas, Hazel Dell, Beaverton and the Tanasbourne area. It also has stores in Salem, Corvallis, Eugene, Medford and Klamath Falls.
