McMenamins to open Hawaiian-themed hotel

Only five months after opening its latest property, theAnderson School near Seattle, the Portland-based chain of creative hotels and pubs secured a deal to develop its latest project: a 30,000-square-foot Hawaiian-themed hotel in Kalama, Wash.

The deal was made official Wednesday night as the Port of Kalama commissioners unanimously approved a lease agreement with McMenamins Inc. after more than eight years of negotiations.
