The latest in Portland metro layoffs: Survey Monkey, Pinnacle Workforce Logistics

Survey Monkey to cut 100 employees; Pinnacle Workforce will cut 190.

Portland’s Survey Moneky outpost will drop 13 % of its employees.

SurveyMonkey said the cuts included a "small number" of Portland employees, but the company indicated it still plans to increase the size of its downtown office.

"We expanded our office space in downtown Portland in anticipation of growing the office. That will not change," SurveyMonkey chief executive Zander Lurie said in a written statement.

Founded in Portland in 1999, SurveyMonkey's headquarters are now in California but the company still has a big outpost downtown – employing more than 100 on two floors of the U.S. Bancorp Tower ("Big Pink.") Since the company's 2009 sale, the Portland office has focused primarily on customer service.

Pinnacle Workforce will layoff 190 workers after a contract cancelation with Fred Meyer distribution center in Clackamas.

Pinnacle Workforce Logistics had supplied workers at the facility since November 2002. Fred Meyer opted to end the contract early, according to a filing with the state's employment department.

The workers will be encouraged to apply for jobs with Merit 3PL, the company that's taking over the contract, according to the filing.
