The Federal Economic Development Administration gave Oregon State University a grant of about $450,000 to bring mass timber production, such as cross-laminated timber, back into the market.

The National Center for Advanced Wood Products Manufacturing and Design is a collaboration between Oregon State and the University of Oregon. The center will be a lab for developing testing for the technology, which is new to the U.S. and has yet to be proven for use in high-rise buildings.
