Tourism climbs for Central Oregon’s ski resorts


Snowfall isn’t always a downfall, especially for tourists seeking to hit the slopes.

Oreogn’s Hoodoo Ski Area, Willamette Pass and Mr. Bachelor are all benefiting from this winter’s contrast to last year.

After being open just 10 days last year, Hoodoo Ski Area has stayed open since Dec. 18, and currently has a total of around 65 inches at midmountain, according to Daidre Streeter, office manager at Hoodoo. Willamette Pass has 5 feet at its lodge, according to owner Tim Wiper.

…The better conditions on the mountains mean more skiers. Streeter said a strong week between Christmas and New Year’s Eve helped Hoodoo draw around 17,000 visitors in December alone, more than it saw in the last two seasons combined.
