Developer David Emami is hoping to move Tualatin forward with a new retail and office building project.

With a struggling economy that has left anyone with vacant office and retail space — and there’s lots of it — desperately trying to find tenants, Emami, the owner of Barrington Management, is creating more.

In September his contractor, Bradley Construction, broke ground for a 55,000-square-foot retail and office space complex in the heart of Tualatin, complete with a covered parking garage. The building site is on the corner of Boones Ferry Road and Seneca Street, the site of the old VFW building and what was formerly the Mashita restaurant.
