Business group stays neutral

At least for now, the Oregon Business Association will not take a side on the tax fight.

While other members of the business community fight to get the $733 million tax package
on the ballot, the Oregon Business Association has decided not to take a side, for now.

“We are not joining the referendum,” said Ryan Deckert, the association’s president, after what he called an “incredibly long and robust discussion” by some 40 incoming and outgoing members of the group’s board.

However, at the behest of some members, the group reserved the right to revisit its decision after it is determined whether the referendums have gained enough signatures to qualify for the ballot.
