Tourism flows in Coos Bay


Despite less-than-picturesque scenery, Coos Bay continues to see a rise in tourism.

While the New York Times called the town “dreary” in a travel piece earlier this summer, tourism is rising in Coos Bay, and transformation projects are on the way.

Few in the region deny that this presentation of “Oregon’s Adventure Coast,” as it’s billed by the Bay Area Chamber of Commerce, is less than ideal, if not downright depressing.

Yet, tourists are still coming here, spending more and more dollars in bookstores and coffee shops and restaurants than ever before.
