In May we featured Narumol (Nong) Poonsukwattana, the 33-year-old owner of the famous Portland foodcart Nong’s Khao Man Gai. Oregon Business photo intern Adam Wickham recently produced a video featuring Nong’s business as well as her compelling personal story.
Says Wickham: “I met Nong through a photoshoot for Oregon Business magazine. I was immediately struck by her intense passion and work ethic. Through this video, myself and my co-producer Cameron Fair wanted to capture not just the things about Nong that make her such an excellent restaurateur, but what it is that motivates and inspires her.”
In our Live/Work/Play column, Nong named rock climbing as the hobby that kept her grounded even as her food cart business expanded rapidly into other locations and a line of her much-loved sauces. In the video below, she talks about how rock climbing helps her as a business owner. “Climbing has taught me so much with running a business,” she says. “I’m going through obstacles, and I want to climb to the top.”
