While North Bend Lanes isn’t dependent on its lottery commissions to survive, owner Mark Mattecheck argues that the addition of other factors – like the smoking ban –
all adds up.
And another cut in his lottery commissions, Mattecheck says, will force him to add at least three more people to the ranks of Oregon’s unemployed: “That’s not a threat. We’ll have to change our operation.”
He makes a great argument, then, for the Oregon State Lottery Commission to stay its hand this fall and make no further cuts in the retailers’ 23 percent commissions.
