The University of Oregon and PeaceHealth will partner with Oregon Health & Science University School of Medicine to form a regional campus in an effort to combat the shortage of rural medical providers. Beginning this summer, a handful of third-year medical students will rotate into Lane County, with plans to admit first-year students for the 2008 term. The program eventually will graduate 40 students per year, increasing the total number of OHSU medical degrees by one-third. OHSU plans similar future partnerships, with Corvallis and Oregon State University as a possible option.
