Local health care clinics are benefitting from stimulus funds, but experts worry about the longterm plan for caring for the poor and underserved.

The money these clinics are getting is not an endless supply. That’s not the nature of stimulus funds, most of which are two-year grants. And, like any windfall, the stimulus money could engender unintended consequences — such as a need for operating money once the stimulus funds run out.

Which isn’t to say the people who run the clinics or are served by them are anything but overjoyed. Try telling a starving man to be careful not to eat too much.

So what happens two years from now?
