Seattle-based Boeing inked a deal with the Port of Hood River to lease 11,730 square feet of the former Homeshield building. Boeing has an option for extension of the lease, which runs until the end of June. According to Mike Doke, the port’s marketing manager, Boeing is using the space for its work on ScanEagle, an unmanned aerial vehicle system used by the military for surveillance in places such as Iraq and the U.S./Mexico border. Insitu Group, located across the Columbia River in Bingen, Wash., owns ScanEagle. While no new workers have been hired as a result of the lease, Boeing has relocated three of its own employees to the area.
