JACKSONVILLE — This year tickets for the popular summer outdoor music Britt Festival will carry a $1-$2 tax. The City of Jacksonville imposed the tax to help raise funds for the parks and visitor services program. Although the tax affects any event with ticket prices exceeding $15, the Britt Festival is the most affected. After an overview of funding for the parks and visitor services program, the city decided to nix Britt Festival’s previous method of payment, a $7,000-$8,000 yearly reimbursement, and impose a ticket tax on all events. The money will go toward funding general parks and visitor services programs.
