One hundred workers at Oregon Cherry Growers will transition from seasonal to full-time employees at the company’s two plants in The Dalles. Oregon Cherry Growers, the largest cherry handler in the United States, also opened a new fresh packing plant last month in Wapato, Wash. Ed Johnson, CEO and president, says the company is also expanding its production of infused-dried fruits, including strawberries and blueberries as well as cherries, as a strategy to diversify its business.
