The offices of the Herald and News moved from downtown Klamath Falls to a new, geothermally heated building in July. The $15 million project, which includes the land, building and $3.4 million for new presses, has been in the works for more than a year. The state-of-the-art press will allow the parent company, Klamath Publishing, to take on commercial print jobs. Gov. Ted Kulongoski will attend a grand opening this month, when the new facility will be open to the public.
Construction on TimberMill Shores, a 50-acre mixed-use lakefront development in downtown Klamath Falls, is under way. The developer’s goal is to provide a “live, work, play environment,” says Rob Shaw, president of TimberMill Shores, by offering a compact, pedestrian-friendly environment for its employees and residents. Previously a lumber mill, the development will include a hotel, Oxford Suites, South Valley Bank and Trust, title offices, retail and housing such as condominiums and townhomes. The first phase of development is expected to be complete by the end of the summer.
