BEAVERTON Hewlett-Packard, the California-based computer company, has created a 500-employee call center near downtown Beaverton as part of a broad effort to improve tech support. HP began hiring the local employees last fall and completed the process in late February.
“We chose this area because it’s a rich labor pool,” says Siobhan Flanigan, HP spokeswoman. The call center is now fully operational, along with seven others around the country and internationally. Hewlett-Packard’s expanded tech support also includes a new customer support infrastructure, serving customers in 132 countries and 31 languages, and a training pilot program enhancing the availability of key technology tools.
