Charging ahead

Hillsboro picks a company to install 16 electric-car charging stations beginning in August.

The city places itself ahead of game, with plans to have all 16 stations installed by next spring – more than any other city in Oregon.

The stations, to be installed by Coulomb Technologies of Campbell, Calif., will include cutting-edge features, including the ability to email the owner when a vehicle is fully charged.

“We’re committed to providing the infrastructure so our citizens will feel comfortable buying and using electric vehicles,” David Robinson, Hillsboro’s director of facilities and fleets, said Monday. “It’s exciting to see Hillsboro on the leading edge of this technology.”
