Lumber mill starts again after a four-month hiatus.

The lumber mill brings back about 70 employees, breathing new life into the economy of the Deschutes and Klamath area.

“We’ve decided market conditions have improved enough to restart in the same configuration as when we shut down,” said Rich Frazer, general manager of Oregon operations with Interfor.

The mill will run one shift a day, and the start-up also could put about 200 loggers, suppliers and workers in related industries back to work in a two-county region, he said.
