House OKs taxes

The Oregon House passes tax hikes on the well-to-do and businesses.

The bill passed in the House will bring much-needed revenue to the Oregon government but will do so by taxing businesses and higher-income residents. It moves on to the Senate and is expected to pass.

Oregon House Democrats flexed their political sinew Tuesday, rolling over Republican opposition to approve a double shot of tax increases on businesses and upper-income earners.

The leader of a prominent anti-tax group immediately vowed to refer at least one of the measures to voters.
