Oregon’s exports are recovering powerfully, thanks largely to high-tech sales and shipments to China.
Exports increased by 19% in 2010, with China emerging as by far the state’s most important trade partner.
Oregon companies rang up $17.68 billion in foreign sales last year. That’s short of the $19.4 billion record set in 2008, but still impressive growth in a state seeking to escape double-digit unemployment.
Exports to China, the state’s biggest foreign customer, surged past $4 billion last year after growing even during the recession. Those are record Oregon sales to any country.
