The Oregon Coast Visitor’s Association aims to convince out-of-state visitors that the coast is a “must-see” attraction.

Association Director Rebecah Lutz spoke to people representing the hospitality industry on the North Coast Friday before the association’s board and marketing meeting in Cannon Beach.

Financed by a portion of statewide lodging taxes and memberships, the Newport-based association concentrates on marketing the 363 miles of the Oregon coast as a “must-see” destination. Its market is the audience outside of Oregon that might stay for several days or weeks.

To draw visitors to the North Coast, she said the hospitality industry can send information to the association to include on its website. The public relations firm working with the Cannon Beach Chamber of Commerce, for instance, should “share its pitches” with the association “so it’s not just Cannon Beach standing alone trying to promote Cannon Beach.”
