Kettle Foods, best known for its Kettle Chips products, has been bought by Diamond Foods Inc. for $615 million.

Diamond will acquire Kettle’s U.S. and U.K. operations, with the deal expected to close by the end of Diamond’s 2010 fiscal year.

Diamond also is a snack foods company, but it has previously focused on nuts and popcorn products. It is the maker of the Emerald Nuts and Pop Secret brands.
