The SHOC Walk & Run is an opportunity for families, survivors, supporters and businesses from various communities to join together for a common cause. Additionally, it helps carry out SHOC Foundation’s mission of raising funds for research, increasing public awareness, and empowering ovarian cancer survivors during their fight.
Portland, OR – A group of Bullard Law employees as both participants and volunteers joined the Sherie Hildreth Ovarian Cancer (SHOC) Foundation this morning for their 11th Annual SHOC Walk & Run. The event included over 700 runners and walkers participating in either a timed 5K or 10K, or an untimed 1 mile Family Fun Walk. The event took place along the peaceful scenery of the Clackamas River and through the City of Gladstone. The SHOC Walk & Run is an opportunity for families, survivors, supporters and businesses from various communities to join together for a common cause. Additionally, it helps carry out SHOC Foundation’s mission of raising funds for research, increasing public awareness, and empowering ovarian cancer survivors during their fight.
Driven to help fund research being done at Oregon Health & Science University and to raise awareness of ovarian cancer, SHOC Foundation was founded by Sherie Hildreth, a stage III ovarian cancer survivor and Gladstone School District school teacher. Since the SHOC Foundation was founded in 2005, the foundation has been working to raise funds for ovarian cancer research at OHSU, increase public awareness about the disease and to help assist those affected by it in their journey.
Bullard Law is thrilled to be able to support such an amazing organization and event. All proceeds from the event are donated to the Gynecologic Research Lab at OHSU’s Knight Cancer Institute in Portland, Oregon. Last year’s event raised over $50,000 and they are hoping to reach $65,000 for 2015!
