The head of the Woodard Foundation has mastered asking for money, but most of all saying “Thanks.”

At the same time that Casey Woodard is backing off from daily responsibilities at his family’s foundation, he is diving into a new job as senior vice president for philanthropy for the PeaceHealth health care system. For the past 13 years — the first seven as a volunteer and the last six as a PeaceHealth employee — Woodard has worked to raise funds for a new hospital in Cottage Grove. He then played a key role in raising $30 million to help build Sacred Heart Medical Center at RiverBend, which opened in Springfield in August 2008.
